    Representative Hopkins and Senator Boldman,

Missoula County supports HB 12, Historic Preservation Grants, up for hearing at 8:30 a.m. tomorrow in the House Joint Appropriations Subcommittee on Long-Range Planning. Thank you, Representative Hopkins, for sponsoring this bill.

The Historic Preservation Grant Program authorized the Seeley Lake Historical Museum and Visitor’s Center for $15,000. The center, operated by community members, is a hub for visitors and residents to learn the Seeley Lake history, culture and current events, which stimulates the local economy and rural community engagement.

In addition, The People’s Center in Pablo, owned and operated by the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes, is authorized for $63,250 from the program. Missoula County is grateful for a positive relationship with CSKT leadership and acknowledges the county is in the aboriginal territories of the Salish and Kalispel people. The People’s Center is a place to experience the rich cultural heritage of the Salish, Pend d’Oreille and Kootenai tribes. The center’s success will have a lasting positive effect for future generations in preserving the heritage, culture and traditions of the land we call home.

    Please support HB 12.
