Missoula County supports HB 40, Revising laws on mandatory decontamination of vessels with ballast and bladders, up for hearing at 3 p.m. today, in the House Fish, Wildlife and Parks Committee.
If passed, HB 40 would help reduce delays caused by decontaminating boats that don’t pose a risk at the Clearwater Watercraft Inspection Station, which the Missoula County Weed District manages via a contract with Fish, Wildlife and Parks. The Clearwater location is the busiest station in the state, inspecting almost 35,000 boats in 2020, compared to the next busiest station, which inspected 17,700 boats. Anything to help streamline the inspections and reduce delays will benefit our inspectors as well as the people with boats waiting in line.
Missoula County supports HB 40, Revising laws on mandatory decontamination of vessels with ballast and bladders, up for second reading today on the House floor. Thank you, Representative Curdy, for sponsoring this bill.
