Missoula County joins the Montana Association of WIC Agencies in supporting HB 69, Eliminate reduced-price co-pays for school lunches, up for hearing this afternoon at 3 p.m. in the House Education Committee. This bill would eliminate the reduced-price category for school lunches, which would remove access barriers for children in Missoula to receive meals and reduce administrative challenges. Also, this bill would align income eligibility for school lunches with other nutrition assistance programs like SNAP and WIC, and would reduce the financial burden and stigma to families currently in the reduced-price category. This bill would positively impact children in Missoula County.
