HB 200

Kenneth L. Holmlund (R) HD 38

Establish laws prohibiting sanctuary cities in Montana

Comments

  1. Representatives France and Tenenbaum,

Missoula County Opposes HB 200, Establish laws prohibiting sanctuary cities in Montana, heard yesterday in House Judiciary. HB 200 seeks to find a solution to a problem that simply does not exist. There are currently no sanctuary cities, counites or towns in Montana. In addition, the federal government has the sole authority to address and enforce immigration in the United States. Beyond seeking a problem, HB 200 is flawed in that it attempts to insert the legislature between citizens and law enforcement officers working in the field, who are well qualified to determine when an arrest should be made.

    Please oppose HB 200.
