SB 132

 LC 2516

Keith Regier (R) SD 3

Require accommodations to employer-mandated vaccinations to be uniformly offered

Comments

  1. Senators Sands and Bennett,

Missoula County opposes SB 132: Require accommodations to employer-mandated vaccinations to be uniformly offered, up for hearing in the Senate Judiciary Committee tomorrow morning. SB 132 takes the current, narrow exceptions for medical necessity or religious freedom and expands those to any employee for any reason. Missoula County employs more than 1,000 people who work in every field, from legal services to public works to healthcare. Missoula County requires healthcare workers, in certain circumstances, to obtain medically necessary vaccinations to protect the public that is seeking safe medical services. Public employers, particularly public healthcare providers and federally qualified health centers, work to ensure that the public is safe when receiving vaccines. Also, employers have a responsibility to provide a safe working environment. The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission has determined that employers can require vaccinations, and therefore, where an employer requires vaccines, this exemption would swallow the rule.

    Please oppose SB 132.
