Missoula County joins the School Administrators of Montana in supporting SB 75 – Revise school funding laws related to unforeseen emergencies – in Senate Education and Cultural Resources this afternoon. Thank you, Senator Salomon, for sponsoring this bill. School districts who needed to run a hybrid or reduced schedule due to the pandemic should not be penalized and lose funding. We recognize that in a typical year there is no reason a district should ever fail to run the required hours unless there is a true emergency and there is a mechanism in the law for boards to declare that emergency and avoid loss of a portion of their BASE aid.
