HB 255

    Representatives Thane and Whitman,

Missoula County opposes HB 255: Revising time period to protest sewer and/or water district assessments, up for hearing this afternoon, in the House Local Government Committee.

The proposed change to 7-13-2282, increasing the protest period from 30 days to 90 days, after the first published notice of the proposed assessments, would directly affect sewer districts across the state and in Missoula County the Seeley Lake Sewer District. It would mean a major shift to the timing of sewer district annual budget and assessment process which is already a tight timeline for these small boards to meet. Changing the protest period to 90 days could cause significant issues, including the possibility of missing the Department of Revenue deadline and therefore missing an annual assessment.

    Please oppose HB 255.
