    Representatives Marler and Thane,

    Missoula County supports HB 432: Revise property tax exemptions for affordable housing, up for hearing tomorrow morning in the House Taxation Committee.

    HB 432 would amend Section 15-6-221, MCA, to specify that affordable housing developments constructed with Home Investment Partnerships Program (HOME) funding and owned and operated by a nonprofit corporation are exempt from property tax payments.

    HOME is one source of funding for affordable housing projects in Missoula County. HB 432 would ensure that projects constructed with HOME funds and owned and operated by a nonprofit would be exempt from property tax payments. HB 432 would help benefit Missoula County nonprofit housing developers that utilize HOME funds, in that their property tax exemption for HOME-funded units would be codified.
