Missoula County opposes HB 455: Generally revise election laws related to absentee ballots, heard this morning in the House State Administration Committee.
HB 455 would require Missoula County’s 85% of absentee voters to renew their request annually. This bill would also require that absentee ballots are received by 6 p.m., which violates portions of federal Uniformed and Overseas Citizens Absentee Voting Act laws. Additionally, it would require requests to be submitted seven days before the election instead of 8 p.m. on election day. HB 455 also requires that people apply in person for their absentee ballot.
