HB 394

  1. Sent March 10:

    Representatives,

Missoula County opposes HB 394, Exempt certain pollution control and carbon capture equipment from property tax, up for second reading on the House floor this afternoon.

This bill would permanently exempt equipment with a taxable value of $11.38 million, which would be a massive hit to local government budgets. The lost revenue would need to be made up somewhere, and the likely source would be residential property owners. Missoula County is looking for ways to provide property tax relief to homeowners, not add to their tax burden, which would be the case if the bill is enacted into law.

    Please oppose HB 394.
