Missoula County supports HJ 22: Interim study on public transportation, up for hearing this afternoon in the House Transportation Committee. Thank you, Representative Olsen, for sponsoring this bill. HJ 22 creates opportunities to address equity, access and economic development issues facing our state. Doing a study to examine, explore and address these issues makes sense. As Montana’s second most populated county, Missoula County has a keen interest in not only examining new models for re-establishing passenger rail service to southern Montana, which we’ve been without for nearly 40 years, but also examining how our various modes of existing and emerging public transportation throughout the region can better serve residents and visitors alike.
