Missoula County supports HB 21: Authorize funding for the multifamily coal trust home loan program, up for hearing this afternoon in the Senate Finance and Claims Committee.
HB 21 would provide an additional $15 million in funding from the Coal Trust Fund for the Coal Trust Fund Housing Loan Program, which provides support for multi-family rental housing construction, acquisition and rehabilitation projects. The program will be managed by the Montana Board of Housing and will create additional affordable housing opportunities for low-and-moderate-income Montanans. The original $15 million was spent in the first six months and funded seven projects around the state after the program’s inception in 2019. Affordable housing is an issue in every community in Missoula County.
