    Representatives Sullivan, Curdy and Olsen,

Missoula County opposes HB 325: Elect supreme court justices by districts.

HB 325 would allow only residents of a district to have a vote for a single supreme court justice. The Supreme Court makes decisions that impact every person in the state of Montana. Every registered voter should have a vote for who serves on our highest court.

Each Supreme Court justice takes an oath of their service as attorneys. They make decisions based on the rule of law and that fact does not change based on where they live in the state. This proposed bill would degrade the equality of Montana’s nonpartisan Supreme Court elections.

    Please oppose HB 325.
