SB 196

 LC3138

Tom McGillvray (R) SD 23

Generally revise polling place hours

Comments

  1. Senator Bennett,

Missoula County supports SB 196: Generally revise polling place hours laws, up for hearing Monday afternoon in the Senate State Administration Committee. If passed, this bill would provide counties another option to serve voters. Currently, the only option for Elections Administrators is to consolidate a polling location if it is underutilized. This would provide counties the option to serve voters in smaller precincts. Before changing locations and hours, Missoula County would coordinate with judges, the Elections Advisory Committee and the County Commissioners to make the best decision for our county. Also, retention of judges who do not feel like they are needed has been an issue for Elections Administrators. This bill would help judges feel more utilized and would increase retention.

    Please support SB 196.
